Getting Started

What to wear for an aerial or pole class?

We recommend wearing shorts or bikini bottoms to expose the maximum amount of skin and allow for free movement. Pole classes require the use of skin to help "stick" to the pole. Do not use body lotions or oils on your skin before a pole class. Wear a top that you feel comfortable exercising in that exposes the underarms. A popular choice to wear for pole classes is the classic sports bra and athletic booty shorts combo. Avoid wearing jewelry. Heels are optional. Most students go barefoot for their first pole classes before deciding whether they would like to add heels into the mix or not.

For Aerial fitness classes, leggings or sweatpants are usually best. We also recommend shirts that cover and protect the armpits, especially for our fabric/hammock classes.
Be sure to check our class descriptions for any other clothing recommendations as some formats also require some form of knee protection.

Do I need to be in shape for an aerial fitness or pole class?
Absolutely not! Pole and aerial fitness usually appeals to folks who haven't had much success with other forms of exercise or fitness. Our classes are designed for all shapes and sizes...as well as fitness levels! The majority of our beginner students have never done any form of dance or regimented fitness activity before. So you aren't alone!

Is there a weight limit?

Nope, not at all! All of our equipment is permanently mounted and professional grade. So there are no weight limits for any of our pole and aerial classes.

What should I do to prepare for class?

Be sure to refrain from putting lotion, sunblock, or oils on a few hours before the start of your class. (If your skin dries out easily, try Corn Huskers lotion as it moisturizers without making the skin slippery or oily) Also, leave jewelry and valuables at home. You'll have to take them off for class anyway. Also, try not to eat a heavy meal or consume any alcohol before your class.

What level am I?

If you have never done pole or aerials before, then start with level 1. Even if you have a strong fitness or dance background, we still recommend students take some level 1 classes first to get familiar with terminology and safety. If you have taken pole or aerials before, feel free to text, call or email to find out what level might suit you best!

Studio Questions

Will I have my own pole or aerial apparatus?

It depends on the class size. We limit some classes to only one person per pole/apparatus and classes where students will need breaks, we book two people per apparatus. If there are more people than apparatus in the class, we simply break the class into groups and have everyone take turns. Don't worry, our classes are designed for two people per pole/apparatus and we guarantee you will still get an amazing workout. If you do find yourself in a small class and end up on your own, please pace yourself and take breaks as often as needed to prevent injury.

Is there parking?

The Bywater studio is in a fairly residential neighborhood and very easy to park. (There are no meters or pay-lots)

The Canal Street studio is not bad considering its proximity to Bourbon Street! Street parking is only $6 for two hours and free after 7pm. And the lots around our building are only $4-5 for the whole day.

Can I change and get ready there?

We do have changing areas and restrooms at both locations. Be sure to come in early if you need to get ready at the studio though!

Class Cards/Packages

Can I use my class cards at both locations?

Yes, absolutely! Many of our students go to classes at both of our studios.

Can I use the same class card for both aerials and pole?

Yup! Class cards can be used for all of the regular classes on our schedule. (The only exception being specialty workshops or parties.)

Can I split my class card with a friend?

Class cards are only able to be used for one person at a time. However, if you move, get pregnant, or are unable to attend any longer, you may gift the remaining passes you have to a friend!

Do I need to book my classes in advance?

We highly recommend booking ahead of time to ensure you get a spot in class. Many of our classes fill up and are unable to accomodate walk-ins. Remember, you can always cancel two hours or more before the start of class and get your credit back!
