Our pole studio has been in the party business here in New Orleans for an awfully long time. It's safe to say; we've seen it all. There's good party planning, there's bad party planning, there's wishful thinking and there's over-planning.
New Orleans is a very unique city with her own personality. She loves to party, she is often running late, and she can catch you by surprise. If you try to micro-manage her...you are in for a fight that you are not going to win. So here are some tips on what to do (and what not to do) when it comes to some of our most popular party activities!
BRUNCH - Is going to take a long time here in New Orleans. So if you think you are going to be finished in an hour and a half and run off to a cemetery tour, think again. Plan to be at the restaurant for maybe three hours...and plan to be very drunk and very full by the end of it. We recommend planning a buffer of an hour or two to walk it off and let the alcohol wear off before going to your next activity.
PARTY BUSES - Our city has loads of them! They are a fun and unique way to party and dance the night away. Many companies will offer to drop you off at your next destination. Just make sure that destination is not something you had a reservation for! (Like a restaurant, tour...or pole class!) Party buses are NEVER on time. They are for having fun...not a replacement for an Uber.
DRINKING - It's what we are known for and practically embedded into our culture. Expect alcohol to be part of every meal and in your face at all times. Just know that New Orleans has a heavy pour. Even one mimosa can knock you on your ass! Pace yourself and respect the local businesses. If your next party stop recommends not drinking prior to coming, sober up! You can always drink later!
WEATHER - New Orleans weather can be unpredictable. It can be hellishly hot, rainy, flooded, sometimes all of the above. Many popular tourist activities are all outdoor. Which spells trouble if the weather turns on you! Be sure to plan some indoor activities (pole dance class for example!) throughout your trip so not all of your plans get washed up in the rain.
HOTELS & RENTALS - Some folks try to save money and stay in short term rentals (like AirBnb) rather than the hotels in the Quarter. If you do this don't forget to research the area! (We are a city known for it's crime, and many low cost rentals are in the more dangerous areas.) Also factor in the cost of Uber...especially during festival season. The hotel off Bourbon might end up being cheaper!
OVER-PLANNING - The City of New Orleans has a ton of things to do. But try not to pack your schedule and force your group to constantly rush from one activity to the next. Plan a few things here and there but allow for time to walk around and explore. Some of the most magical parts of your trip might be things you didn't even plan for!
